The Peak of Prevention

The key advantage of a membership-based concierge practice is time. In this unique model of primary care, the abundance of time we have with each member gives us more freedom to focus on the non-urgent but essential aspects of health — most importantly, prevention.

Traditional preventative measures include vaccines, mammograms, pap smears, and colonoscopies. This is the level of prevention most people are familiar with and adhere to.

Beyond traditional prevention, we must look at what’s responsible for the most deaths in our society: cardiovascular disease. To help prevent strokes and heart attacks, we identify risk factors by inspecting things like blood pressure, cholesterol levels, genetic indicators, and presence of related illnesses. This is highly individualized and helps us determine which additional screenings and actions are appropriate or necessary.

The most critical level of prevention looks at how we live our lives. This involves taking steps to optimize our quantity and quality of sleep, nutrition and weight management, strength and aerobic exercise, and stress management.

While this is the most impactful type of prevention, unfortunately, it’s also the most overlooked by traditional healthcare. We understand that these lifestyle factors are foundational to prevention, health, and longevity, and they are the core focus of our work together.

Our private direct fees pay for a combination of diagnostic, routine exam services and a communication/health data plan that supports those routine exams all year. Please check with your tax professional on proper HSA funds utilization, and check with your plan fiduciary on FSA/HRA fund use.

Your annual fee pays for membership in the practice, your annual wellness exam, and other benefits listed on this page. However, all other procedures and services not performed in the office will be billed by the performing entity.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. After you call 911, please call us. We will attempt to coordinate your emergency care thereafter. Patients are asked to contact us before going to any urgent care facility and at any time of the day or night. We will attempt to address urgent after-hours problems directly.

Call 911 if you have a life-threatening emergency. Then call us. Call us first if the problem is minor. With the exception of a few controlled substances, most prescriptions can be ordered anywhere in the country. If necessary, it may be possible to find you a resource where you are for care. If you seek care at an emergency room or urgent care center out of our area, please have the attending doctor call us for coordination. We will be readily available for a phone consultation with you and/or other healthcare personnel. If you should require hospitalization while away, at your request, we will establish phone communication with you and your attending physician(s) to ensure continuity of care.

Of course, our members are free to see any specialist they wish. We are available to help you decide what specialists to see and to coordinate such consultations. In this way the most appropriate resource is used, the earliest arrangements are made, and your applicable medical information is sent in advance of your specialist visit.

The costs of prescription medications are the patients’ responsibility and in most cases should be covered by their insurance plans. We have expertise in assisting patients in purchasing medications in the most cost-effective manner.
